In an updated Yahoo! Search Review (http://www.searchengineshowdown.com/newsarchive/000781.shtml) at Search Engine Showdown News, I discovered some interesting search prefixes that you can use. Some of these I was not aware of at all and they do not seem to be in the Yahoo list on their main site. They appear to be using old Inktomi prefixes.

New found prefixes include stem:, domain:, feature:homepage, feature:index, feature:meta, and the region: limiters.

The feature:x is very useful in some instances. For example, feature:index will return only index pages of a website. There are other feature: limiters (http://www.searchengineshowdown.com/features/yahoo/review.html) for activex, applet and flash also.

If you are worried about ActiveX security issues, I suppose you can always search at Yahoo with the -feature:activex as a limiter and not worry about such things. But considering that Yahoo's Search Index is a little bit dated ... do not count on it.

All I know is that when Yahoo took over Alta Vista, I lost what I considered the best search engine around.

Why did I like it so much? It let you do Lexus/Nexus things like "near", "between" and other such things that used to return me 10-20 results instead of the 1-20 of 2,000,000.

Can I do these on Yahoo now?

Not sure about anything like that except for what you can do in the Advanced Search (http://search.yahoo.com/web/advanced) page.

Okay, what's going on with this topic/thread? On the main page, it reads "Can I See The Shipping Info Please?" But inside here the topic reads "Updated Yahoo! Search Limiting Parameters".

I posted a reply that had to do with shipping info, but inside here it looks quite out of place; as does the post above mine.

Here's what the main page says about what this topic is about, "A great many sites ship only to certain specific countries, yet don't clearly show this information. I have often found that I must proceed all the way through the checkout system only to find that the business will not ship to me (Canada)."

I'm confused...

Hmmm, now the message I posted about shipping is gone (along with the other person's shipping message) :/

I did find the topic that the main page should be pointing to ... it's at:
http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?p=155427

Guess I'll have to repost my original message reply...
