Monitoring Computer

I have one question. Is there a tool that would prevent the server operator to monitor my coputer? I have a wireless connection and they monitor us what we download. How do they do that? Over IP?

That is a pretty iffy type of question, ZWONKO.

Wouldn't that be illegal, even if the server operator couldn't just monitor it the normal way and had to look at your computer ?
