Hi Guys,

This domain (http://www.bartendingcollege.com) has always done especially well on Yahoo! and pretty good in google. Prior to two days ago,it was #2 under "Bartending Schools" and #5 under "Bartending" - now it's barely in the top 100 for those terms, and not even #1 for "Bartending College" which is absolutely absurd. For some reason it just did a complete freefall. On Google, I just keep getting stronger and stronger, and currently have a PR of 7. Any ideas? Can anybody spot any reason why I'd be docked like I have been?

Cheers and many thanks!

Josh

I am showing you at #39 for bartending schools (no quotes).

How long have you had the Casino links running on your homepage? I realize this is not a casino site, but a dealers school. Still, I would not take anything to chance on this type of thing.

I've had the Casino College text links for about a month, so that would definitely coincide - though I've had the flash based ad that I believe the SE's can't read for about 8 months. However why would Yahoo! penalize the Bartending College website for the cross linking as it's most definitely a relative link. I'll try removing the text based link and see what happens.

Another oddity about the situation is that it appears that it's only penalized my default domain listing, the one that is derived from the directory listing (www.bartendingcollege.com/) however all of the other pages show, even the index.php page is being listed, however in horrible positions.

BTW, what is the best way to contact Yahoo! about such issues? I actually had some luck dealing with Google before when the issue was not my fault.

Cheers and many thanks!

I've had a similar situation with my directory listing. My site is just 4 months old. About a month ago, for my most general keyphrase, I was at about #63 for my standard listing and #78 for the directory listing.

At the last update, my directory listing shot to #1. There was no logical reason for it. It stayed for about 5 days then dropped to about #55.

Now, my standard listing is 27 rather than 63 and my directory listing is gone. I don't know why directory listings were in SERPs anyway.

Has anyone at all had any useful contact, preferable a conversation by phone, about problems with listings in Yahoo!?

We have suffered because of the problem with their handling of redirects and would be very interested to hear of any way of getting feedback apart from their guidelines on requesting a re-review of your site...
