View Full Version : Good on Google, poor on Yahoo
I've a site http://www.perthshirediary.com that is optimised for the work 'perthshire'. It ranks consistently 3-8 on Google. However, on Yahoo it is up about the 50 mark. I've had a good look at it and can't figure out anything obvious.
Would appreciate any comments.[/url]

For Yahoo! rankings, I would focus more on on-the-page factors than off-the-page factors. First, make sure that your keyword density, prominence, etc. is about the same as the other pages that show up at the top of the Yahoo! rankings. Then, anchor text links will help tremendously, as well.

One of my sites on Google was #1 for a few months, until it misteriously disappeared in January. Recently it reserfaced at #33 position.
On Yahoo!, however the same site keeps 6 spots on the first page, 3 of which are 1-3. I hate to say it, but I just love Yahoo! (at the moment :)

Because Yahoo updates are very slow comparable to Google

if good on google and poor on yahoo, then nothing to worry about. try to omit the opposite situation.
bhartzer is right - on-site factors are important, but in my opinion google will also give them larger weight. this would prove their policy: do the best for your visitor. and the first good thing you can do for your visitor is prove that you really know well what you have on your site. There is a picture with a text 'perthshire diary' on every single page - make a H1 of it. That should help a bit.
