HI all
Posting today after a really long time.

Today had a very interesting discussion on Artificial INtelligence in school

People seem to find the use of artificial intelligence in the families as very dangerous as one does not seem to digest the fact that the humanly efficient automations can be controlled and they are for assisting human beings rather than controlling them .. . .

As far as virus and hacking is concerned then i say these are risks only if the riobots are connected to a network so this risk is less enough.

I would like to get the views and opinions on this. . . .

Have a nice day
Sparsh

i think one of the big arguments is that if the robot is true AI it should be able to adapt to most given situations. therefor a single AI unit might, if it say felt left out of a family or prehaps needed some assistance that another AI unit could offer, look for another form of AI unit to comunicate with. Although there is origanaly no network setup the AI unit could figure a way to do this for themselves, they are supposed to be adaptable to be inteligent. Also strictly speaking two AI units that have any interaction are forming a network if they are conscious of the others AI units.
But i think that it will be a while before we see true AI units in the house hold. Robots that do the hoovering are available from www.dabs.co.uk but they don't actually learn about there enviroment they just have a preprogramed code that tells them how to react to their surrondings and obsticals.
