View Full Version : Constantly slowed on Google

I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem. I searched around but couldn't find a similar topic. However, it is obviously difficult to look up the right keywords that describe this question.

Anyway, I am constantly slowed on Google Adwords. Constantly means every 48hrs or so. The problem is two-fold. If I choose broad keywords that are often searched for but that are not perfectly describing the products we sell, the CTR is for obvious reasons low and I get slowed for having a CTR below 0.5%. However, if I choose very specific keyphrases consisting of two or more words that perfectly describe my site-content, I get slowed because the keywords are not searched for often enough. One way or another, I am being slowed.

Shouldn't Google be interested in exotic, uncommon keywords or keyphrases, even though they are searched for only a handful of times a day?

Your insights are appreciated!

Maybe the staff at Google don't like the concept of real furs?...

It's a possibility...however unlikely...

You're up against the challenge of getting AdWords to work for you. The answers aren't immediately obvious and you have to keep experimenting until you discover (stumble across?) the right ones.
As much as anything you need to "think like your customer" and recognize why -- just why -- would anyone even think of looking for your products. It's something of an intellectual exercise, but it is worth the undertaking.
One thing you could usefully do is to look at your competition, especially if any of them are in the Top Ten of search results. What are the phrases that turn them up? What words are in their webpages that perhaps you aren't using yourself? What alternative shopping-type sites feature your kind of product? Etc., ad nauseum!

With as unique a product such as mink gloves, I wouldn't think you'd need to bother with Google AdWords because you should be at the top of the list anyway!?!

Is your site brand new? I did a search in Google for "mink gloves" (no quotes) and didn't find your site, but what I did notice is that the top listed sites are using keyword stuffing in their titles, and guess what? Google doesn't care.

Dear All,

Thanks for your insights.

Maybe the staff at Google don't like the concept of real furs?...

Just to clarify; We take Animal Protection very seriously. We hand select our furs based on quality of texture and touch and not, like the fashion-industry, only for their optical looks. This means we tailor our gloves from furs with small and minor optical flaws from furs left-over from the fashion industry or otherwise bi-products of the food industry which otherwise would have been discarded. Our tailors craft each glove so that any optical flaws are hidden. All of our furs are from ranched animals.

Is your site brand new?

Yes, the site is quite new. I started mid of June. However, Google still hasn't picked it up, although we are #1 on Yahoo for "massage glove" and "fur glove" etc. and all our products are shown on Froogle. Is it normal for Google to be so slow picking up new sites. Especially since, as you stated correctly, it is not really a high-competition product.
I used to have a 301 permanent redirect from minkglove.com to minkglove.com/store. Do you think that could have been the reason that Google still hasn't crawled the site?

I did a search in Google for "mink gloves" (no quotes) and didn't find your site, but what I did notice is that the top listed sites are using keyword stuffing in their titles, and guess what? Google doesn't care.

So would you suggest I do the same?

Thanks again!
