Hello all,

What do you feel is the best account management system for a web design business? What are the things we really need to track about our clients or potential clients? How do you organize all their personal, marketing/sales, etc. info & why do you do it like you do?

Thanks much for your time & interest & for participating in this forum. We're all so busy, but for me it's wonderful to know that there are people out there who still "talk" to one another like this.

Hi Ruth,
I see no one has replied yet - maybe because no one has a "good" system out there! At least, I know I don't... I have a system of 3x5 cards for each client with the relevant info (contact name, phone number, domain name, renewal date, passwords, etc.) and I also use Quickbooks (but not well) for the financial data. I keep meaning to develop an Excel spreadsheet for the index card stuff, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I too am very interested in hearing what others are doing!

www.account-n-see.com is worth a look. Nice and simple.

Hi Ruth ~

I have a few hosted accounts and have tried a couple of systems. The first was set up on an Excell Spreadsheet, and was very inconvenient.

Individual sheets in a 5 x 8 day planner has proved to be more efficient. And, its portable, and I don't worry about loss of data in the event of any system failure. Each page is set up ledger style with the appropriate info.

If you have, or plan to have a large number of accounts, then you may want to establish a database system in Access. Later this can be transferred to any system when you upgrade.
