Hi Everyone,
I have been reading Web Pro World forums for some time now and have found them very helpful. Thank you. I now feel I can jump in. I have been designing my own websites for about eight years with no professional training. Sometimes I feel totally lost trying to keep up with changes. What's allowed, what isn't. What I need help with now is why MSN has dropped my website. I had good listings with them with all the pages of my website until the first of the month. I know they are going through some changes but I don't know if I was dropped accidently and will be picked up with respider or if I have done some no no I'm not aware of. I have used bcentral to resubmit, checked to see if my Overture site match is still active, replied to their "can't find what you want" link to tell them I couldn't find my website but no luck. Can someone help me?

You're in there. If you're not highly ranked for a keyword, MSN/Inktomi/Yahoo! seem to put a fair degree of emphasis on both inbound links and anchor text within them.

You may also want to look at putting select (and by select, I mean no more than 5-10) keywords in heading tags to both break up your content and to increase your chances of being found for your keywords in them.

I'd also take a look at that title tag. It's really long and as a result, will dilute the weight of the individual words within.

That should get you started.

cmwpo,

I'm glad you've found help on WebProWorld! I've moved your post to our new MSN Search forum. Now you can discuss or ask questions about MSN in this forum.

Enjoy!

I too can't find my listing in MSN. I had purchased inclusion in Inktomi about five months ago and was placing on page 2 for my primary search term. Now, it's nowhere to be found. I don't know if it is a result of their new engine or perhaps my site isn't up to their new standards. I would greatly appreciate someone looking at my site and advising if the problem is me. The site is www.taxonlinefiling.com Thanks a lot for your help.

Others have mentioned that putting keywords into <!-- HTML comments is not a good thing to do.

Looks like MSN may be having an indexing problem. I have at least one client's site that was listed in MSN very high, but has now disappeared because it's Inktomi listing expired. Yahoo still shows the site ranking quite well (we have a SiteMatch program for it) - but MSN doesn't even have it in its index.

I even completed their "feedback" form to notify them that they were missing this URL. No luck.

Until MSN new search comes to fruition, why should any of expect to have stable listings within MSN right now?
