Hi All,

Not my usual stomping ground so sorry if this isn't the right forum but it looks close.

A friend wants to put a book on line (I can handle the selling part etc) but what is the best format for the book and what is the best (OK read cheapest) software to convert it to this format? Can I just get away with MS Word or Adobe or is there some sort of special e-book software. FYI I think he currently has the book in MS Works for Windows format.

Many thanks

Julian

I would offer Adobe PDF. I ahve one client who sells e-books & she just puts everything in an PDF. No one has complained.

And by doing a search I found this site:
http://www.ebookcompiler.com/ & they seem to have a trial offer - maybe compare? But I would not recommend MS Word since some people might not have Word due to cost & almost everyone has the Adobe reader.

Is there a free 'Lite' version of PDF forming software available anywhere?

I think adobe allows you to create a few PDFs on their site. And you might check out: http://www.123pdf.com/index.html
