So, is there a formula behind this or just an educated guestimate?

What ever it is I'm curious now. Feel free to take a shot at:

When it comes to appraising domain names, there is no set algo. for doing it. Everyone has their own opinions on the value of a domain name and how to decide that domain name.

When it comes the actual appraising of a domain name, generally the appraiser should take in consideration the following:
(in no particular order)

1). Existing Traffic
2). Type In Traffic
3). Rememberability (for offline advertising)
4). Brandability
5). Correct Spelling
6). Length
7). # of non alphabetical characters (numbers and the hyphen)
8). If Keyphrases exist in domain (goes along with #2 above)
9). If domain is specific to a single industry/products or can it be used in more industries.
10). If selling the domain name, how many years are left on the expiration.
11). Does any website or anything come with the purchase of the domain name.

Now of course this is just my opinion. And I know there are probably more things to take in consideration, but its Friday and my mind has already left the building.

I personally never give or receive apprasials, because from my experience they never truly represent the value of the domain name. As there is no 100% apprasial method.

And one more reason I love WPW...

They say you learn something new everyday...I would like to say Thank you Imvain2 very good info there I was curious as to helping out with appraisals... but being so new to the game I don't want to just guess...

I think it's a good name in general... I usually think of what would sound catchy on a tv commercial...And I could hear GolfReview.com in a commercial... I think you have a great domain there;)
as far as value... Pierre Odmir (founder ebay) so eloquently put, the perfect price is ....an equation...1/what someone is willing to pay
and 2/what someone is willing to sell for. So with that in mind if your doing good with the domain I wouldn't sell it unless someone makes you an offer you can't refuse ;)
