it is a good domain, but the .net suffix is not one i use when i try guess type domains... its usually .com or .co.uk however may help you in the keyword relevance of search engine listings as it does explain its self very well, just be sure to keep the page simple and relevant, too many of the freebie sites use multicolour falsing adverts and its usually hard or impossible to reach the content you are looking for!

Good Luck!

Exactly the response I was anticipating :)

In domain circles, the .net extension is considered as an "orphan". But since search engines are "blind" to the domain's extension, the keyword will play a major part in SERPs. Wordtracker reports 176 searches a day for the term "send free sms". While Overture reports 308 daily searches made for the same term. So the domain has potential. Just have to get IBLS using "send free sms" as anchor text, to push it up the SERPs.

Many thanks for your appraisal.

I just don't get it. . . people telling you a .com is "better" than .net or .anything else are living in the past. [that ought to start some flames so I can sue like the crazy lawyer in CA suing Yahoo :]

Search engines don't care, and I know when I am looking for something by domain name, I simply type the 2nd level domain, as in your case I might type "sendfreesms" in the Browser Location (URL) field and let the browser or underlying search engine find sites by that name... if none exist, then it takes me to a search results page for that word.

And don't worry about length of the domain name either. Very few people type them in, and I know I have some long ones stuffed with keywords that gets me great traffic (e.g. man-boy-girl-teen-womens-sexy-underwear.com), 8 keyword phrases, in fact!

As far as what it is worth. . . to Whom? It doesn't appear you want/plan to sell the domain, so it probably doesn't really matter what it is worth... but if you REALLY want to know, you can go toAfternic.com and get an appraisal (no I don't work for Afternic, but I have used a number of appraisal services and they are both best/cheapest). Or you can go to Network Solutions and pay almost $60 for the same report.

But what do I know? . . . that I am often wrong.

Just what I said :)

Search engines are blind to the extension. Good back link campaign with the "correct" anchor text will benefit even the most obscure extension :)

Honestly, I intend to sell the name but don't want to get paid appraisal :(

Thank you very much.
