hi all...
again another new comer to webproworld - so I look forward to all your comments / advice.

Is the following quote true, "we now know that for a UK .com company to achieve a UK listing is has to be hosted by a UK server."

Can a UK .com company not be listed in Google UK Region if it is hosted on a web server based in the USA?

Does the location of your web server greatly affect your listings?

Look forward to your comments....

thank you...

we have now realised this, but if a UK .com company does want to break into Europe and the US - would US hosting be a viable option?

Also, is it true to say that it is only Google that first looks at the IP address and that the likes of Yahoo, MSN etc. use link analysis for their search criteria?

Would be interested in any more info / comments on this subject.

thank you

This is one that I have had trouble with too. A dot com will apparently be judged by the IP address. If you have dot uk at the end it does not matter. You will get into all the English speaking categories if it is in States, but not into a regional directory, except for the ones you apply to.

I have madurusa.com hosted in Australia, and it does fine in the States, but is in no regional directories, except where I could lie about it!
