Does a local insurance broker need a web site?

A friend of mine has a small, local, insurance broker company. 99.9% of his business is generated locally by word of mouth. Does he need a web site? and if yes, why?

Even though much of his business comes from the local area, presumably he still has to place adverts in the local press and in the Yellow Pages. If so then a single line web address can be very useful. It is difficult to get everything that the company has to offer into a small advert and larger adverts can be expensive. A single line web address doesn't take up much room but visitors to the site can get much more information and hopefully will contact the company. Just a thought...

I agree. I think a website can help virtually any business. You obviously dont need a large website, but a few high quality pages would be a great addition to the image of any business. Since you really dont need anything major for a site, it will not cost you very much, and if you have the time you could easily learn to make a good looking website yourself.

The insurance broker definitely needs a website, if only for the email alone. All emails he sends out to people will include his domain name (and can include a signature at the end of the email with his latest promotion or offer).

Having a website further establishes your business as a real business, just like having a fax machine, answering machine, and toll-free phone number.

Does any off-line business need a website?
Not necessarily. There's plenty of businesses that function and are highly profitable without a web presence.

Will a website help or benefit his business or almost any business, for that matter?
No doubt about it.

Ya i think every individual needs website who is working, because when he stops, or on vacation, or on leave, or sleeping or engage in another work website is place people can look into individual capacity and they can buy or sell product or service.

Rest what the seniors has told here that put signature at end is perfect thing for everyone to make sure that you have presence in Internet World.

I did one for a friend of mine who sells horse insurance - don't laugh, actually a very profitable business & his clients are the rich and famous in Los Angeles. He is an older gentleman, not too tech savvy, but he did tell me he really appreciated what I did & he likes his e-mail. I think that is his favorite :) A lot easier for his clients to send him images, etc. Might be worthwhile for your friend.

A web site is becoming more of a business identity like a business card or telephone number
More and more consumers expect to have this medium no matter what the business is.
More and more company’s are adding their online presents do not be fooled by today’s numbers look at the growth
This is totally aside from the fact that it is an invaluable tool for giving the consumer detailed information saving time and money.
It does not matter if no one can find you site on any search enjoin treat it like a business card and if done properly it wouldn’t cost much more then one ether.
