Hello Steve,
Of course it would work. And much better. As has already been said quite often, Flash seems to be a major pb for SEO. You could have the very same web site look using simple html, and instead of the links and images coming out with Flash, just have them done with pop up menus/links. This will allow you to stuff your source code with keywords that SE will find on your page, with an indexation of your pages as a result.
Good luck,
Alain

Keep in mind this is changing. Google is now picking up content from within SWF files.
It won't be long before all search engines can actively list Flash based websites.
Hi,
Also bare in mind that flash has a very reliable xml object that can be used to import valid xhtml as content. The xhtml can then be submitted to the search engine, and hold a link to the flash file.
That will work just as well as html based site.

Flash MX???
I was just about to go full tilt on flash until my computer got hacked a few months ago, so I am just trying to pick up the pieces....many pieces. I had to wipe all my data, tutorial links, etc. for the last 5 months, backups included.
I was about to start with the "Central SDK" and was just getting into Java...
I am very basic in flash skills, but I want this XML knowledge.
I know that a bit, not to bad.
Is there a good place you can send me, besides Macromedia? I can check there.
Thanks millions :O)))
Flash MX???
The xml object has been available since flash 5. It's pretty much the same as the LoadVars object if you know how to use that (LoadVars is flash 6 and later).

Well I'd always suggest http://www.flash-forum.co.uk as I'm a moderator there, but we don't have many tutorials. I learnt from books, and trial and error, but this tutorial seems to cover most of what you need: http://www.actionscripts.org/tutorials/intermediate/XML/index.shtml
cheers.
