Hello all, I am new to the forum and I hope my post is under the correct topic. I have been working in Intranet development in a corporate environment for about 3 years and I am finally building my own commercial site. I just registered my domain name (using Yahoo) and used my name as the technical and administrative contact. The name will be registered through Melbourne IT. I noticed that there are other registrars (Network Solutions, for one) who offer domain name registration using an "alternate" name. Any thoughts on this? Is this a good idea? I don't want my name, address and phone number to be available to the public for many reasons, but are there any problems with using an "alternate name?" I looked at Melbourne's site and didn't see that they offered the "alternate" name service. Does anyone here know what I would need to do to have the registrar changed to a company that does offer me this privacy (such as Network Solutions)?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

hi,
I don't know what an "alternate" name is all about, but if you are concerned about your privacy, you may go with godaddy.com since they offer privacy feature for US$20. So if you purchase that feature, your contact information will be hidden when people search the domain using whois.

Hope that helps.
