I noticed that it seems to be okay to mention others to answer questions and provide solutions, but not yourself. My own post was removed when letting people know that there are solutions to identity theft (which was the question) and I noticed 123live website was cut for answering an e-commerce question. I don't know exactly what 123live posted but they are an e-commerce solution site so it stands to reason that that would mention themselves. My intention on my post that was cut was not self-promotion, but to let people know that there are solutions available and that I could provide more info if they wanted it. Mentioning something that you market should not be viewed as spam when it is directly related to possible solutions for the poster.

In this industry and with the use of forums, it is very easy for forum posts to get cluttered with self promotion, especially with ecommerce & marketing sites. While you would see it as providing a solution to someone, another poster will think "hey, they got to promote their business & I cant". So we raise the bar, so the forums can retain some kind of integrity.
There is a very easy way around this, that WPW allow (but many other forums dont!)... and that is the use of promotion in your signature. If you want to show someone something on your site, you only have to point to your signature & advise people which section of your site to look in.

That is correct.
and I noticed 123live website was cut for answering an e-commerce question. I don't know exactly what 123live posted but they are an e-commerce solution site
Well, I guess you are pointing your finger squarely at me. 123live was only interested in promoting his/her service and offered nothing helpful or contructive. And really, anyone can do that.
People come here to get answers, not offers.
so it stands to reason that that would mention themselves.
Yes it does.
In fact that's the point.
If we allowed self-promotion on our boards, then all posts would be me, me, me, me...
And that's not the type of objective response people here are looking for.
Mentioning something that you market should not be viewed as spam when it is directly related to possible solutions for the poster.
No, it's not necessarily spam, but it is self-promotion. Again, mentioning yourself as a possible solution to someone's question, namely your business, product or service, is self-promotion. There's no 2-ways about it.
If we opened the door to you, then we'd have to open the door to all. And, if we did that, all responses would look like..."I can help you", "I can offer you", "Try me", "I'm the best", etc,
We would have to be called WebProClassifieds then.
