I haven't logged in to my Facebook account for ages and kept receiving "IT- you have notifications pending" mails from Facebook and ignored them. But lately, I began to receive these mails to my (supposedly anonymous) Hotmail-address! I have never, ever revealed my Hotmail-address to Facebook and I have never, ever given a permission to these two big brothers to exchange my personal data. I never even had my real name revealed in my Hotmail-account. So, how can they know it?

I find this a serious violation to my privacy and I also believe this is criminal. I have contacted both companies but hardly receive any reply. There went your last anonymity. All Hotmail-users should also know, that there is no really anonymity, even if you choose to fill in a fake name. Every Hotmail-sent message has a field pointing to your originating IP-address so there you go.

This gives me all the better reasons to choose really anonymous mail services. mutemail.com says it has servers in Bahamas, which is known for its strict privacy laws. Maybe I'll choose that.

Actually someone has created an account on Facebook with your Hotmail account. Now you have to cancel your Hotmail account to terminate that Facebook account.

This is silly. Many things could have happened. Your Facebook profile could have been open to public and somebody grabbed your email. Are you sure these messages came from the real Facebook? Or your information could have been picked up from a domain whois or something. Don't be so quick to blame Facebook.
