Step1, open the Excel document.
Step2, press the Office button on top left, go to Save As and choose Excel 97-2003 Workbook.
Step3, enter a new name at the File Name field or just use the same name as original xlsx file.
Step4, click Save to convert xlsx to xls, seconds later, the Excel file will be opened default in .xls format as soon as the conversion from Excel 2007 to Excel 2003 or Excel 2010 to Excel 2003 is finished.

Take care that the file so created will be huge comparing to the Excel 2007 file due to extra code it contains for the compatibility.
