I'd like to tell you about a tool I'm widely using to administer my and my customer's wordpress sites - wp-fox.
This tool allows keeping all the things in single place and makes it very easy to deal with wordpress and themes or plugins updates as well as many more things.
Say, it can setup new blog on the hosting or install a plugin to several blogs at once. As well wp-fox can make backups of the sites.
It as well allows you to publish posts or pages directly without opening your blog admin pane.
