I'd like to hear from people who have used AddThis (http://www.addthis.com) on their sites. Have you gotten any measurable benefit from it? Has there been any downside or negative side-effects? Have you used AddThis and then gone to a competitive service--and why?

Yes, I did that search, too, and spent a good bit of time perusing the results. Much of what I found was either fairly old, specific to something particular (like Wordpress), mentioned AddThis but didn't really talk about it's pros/cons, and/or mentioned AddThis but was more "utilitarian" (like "I'm having a problem with the AddThis widget on IE7"). Unfortunately, just because a post contains a particular word doesn't mean the subject matter is relevant (this post will show up in that search, too, but it still doesn't answer the original question). What I was hoping to get from this post is feedback on the value or issues of AddThis from people that have actually used it.

I've used it a few times for testing and live sites. I like it. I use to have to hard code links into pages for things like this (yeah I know, old school way of doing it) but it worked. Anyways, I like AddThis. I intend to use it on upcoming sites as well.

I used on two of my sites. Removed after a month or so. My main problem is loading...One of it is an ecommerce site and if pages loading takes time, visitor hits back button. So I removed if from that site.
