The thing with Adsense is that the people making big money are the ones who have set-up websites just to sell ad space. They choose certain keywords that they know pay a decent amount. That works fine for the generic site about drugs or diets. But if you have a highly contextual site, you're going to get lower bids no matter what. But, you should get a higher CTR because the content is so targeted. So in the end, you could end up making more money if you stick to good, solid content. That said, I think you can steer your site in the direction of higher paying keywords, you just need to do it ethically. Don't put random links about diets or drugs on a site about web hosting. It just doesn't make sense, and de-values your site. Check out the Overture Bids Tool to see how much people are paying for clicks on the Overture network @ http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/

Good luck.
