Things are looking up at my site, but here's the thing. And I will be completely blunt in telling you this. I have run a very successful Hotline server (file sharing software, for those who don't know) for the last few years, and from it's conception, I made up my mind to use this medium as a means of connecting with other digital graphic/web designers, as they were the ones who frequented my server often, and from who i learned a lot. My dream was to have an open forum where designers of all sorts could come to "comment, chat and share". I spent oodles of time exploring endless possibilities of ways OTHER than Hotline to connect. My project took many manifestations, including a page where members could choose one of 5 things to do...chat, on a simple flash chat I made, message me via email, connect to my computer via FTP (through a web browser, ugh!) and some other "cool" things.

It has gone through many changes to get to where it is now. I have a few "core" members, but I desperately want to get away from Hotline, and develop a larger community away from that.
What I need to know, from you all is this: Is marketing to my Hotline server members the wrong thing to do? And where would I go to try again? My site might seem a like a spin-off WebProWorld, but really, I just found this place, and have been at my site for three years...of course, it hasn't always LOOKED the way it does now. ANY tips will be greatly appreciated, I hate begging people to use the site. Some have said, "It's too much" and "Can't you make it so it's dummie-friendly?"

Thanks, and hope to hear from you all soon!

I'm experiencing the same situation/problem.

We are both in a different market.
The web has ton's of sites.
How does one get your site notice by the right person who is in a position to hire you for something?

Lot's of services out there. Lot's of money, few provide the results.

When someone finds the answer please let me know?

This site has been more helpful and provides some solutions which had been very helpfull.
Helpfull yes. Profitable No.
