Hi, I need some advice as to what wireless access point(s) to buy to cover a two storey home. I had perviously tried an Apple Air Port Express, but I am finding that my iPhone won't jump from one access point to the other until it looses connection with the previous access point. This creates a situation where the coverage is very low even though I am right next to another access point.

Can anyone recommend any solutions that will either give me full coverage with one device, or the best way to create a mesh network so I can have full wifi coverage all over the house?

Thanks in advance,

David

Check out this thread on the Apple forums. It might be able to help you boost your Airport Express Signal. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/990240?start=0&tstart=0

My friend living in 3 storey house and what he did was having the network plug adaptor in each floor with wireless adaptor. So every floor has its own wireless adaptor to send signal to any wireless devices. But this is a costly solution though.

I would use 2 AP's or run one in a lower frequency if your mobile device supports it the lower the freq the further the radio waves can go (not through walls) high frequency's travel much shorter distances however can penetrate walls very well.

you may be able to use your existing hardware and just change the frequency to suit your location.

Final mention if you already have the hardware be sure to set the second AP in repeater mode i suspect this is what you did wrong in your initial setup.

Repeater mode basically just extends the signal range from the first ap so if your standing next to the second one but it hasn't lost signal it should be repeating that signal and strengthening it. thus achieving your desired result.
