Hi,
I am new to the forum and am trying to learn as much as I can.
I have been reading mixed reviews about Page Rank and it's importance.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the precise calculation that is used when working out a site's PR rating?
Also, do you have any recommendations as to better ways of actually working out the effectiveness of any site?
Thanks in advance.
There is a bunch of Sticky threads with a ton of information at the top of this and every forum on WPW. Check out those threads first - then ask your question if you cannot find what you are looking for. Sound like a plan?

Page rank algorithms by all search engines keep on changing with times. So there is no standard method of calculating it as well.

There are members on WPW who have displayed various forumula which caluculates PR, but it doesn't mean we all can understand the math to our advantage. So how is your post going to help the OP?

Google doesn't change Page Rank, but they do tweek their algorithm - which can affect the green bar. But I'm curious how you know something at G changes every three months. Can you explain that a little further?

Page Rank is a link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page[1] and used by the Google Internet search engine, that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyper linked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. The numerical weight that it assigns to any given element E is referred to as the Page Rank of E and denoted by PR(E).
