Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum but would love some critique on a logo I have just created for my friend. He wanted a logo for his creative company based on a shark, trying not to make it too nautical! This is the design I came up with (attached and inserted.) I am aware I have ignored some of the basic rules of logo design and appreciate it may look a little **busy** however some advice/critique would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Craig

As an design image, I really like it and think you have done a great job. However, as a logo, not so much.
It is unrecongnizable as a logo when scaled down much beyond the original sized image you have posted, will they use this sized image on their letter heads, probably a bit too big for that and other places a logo is placed. When you look at the massive successful companies like Vodafone, Google, they have strong simple images that scale well and is identifiable at a glance from a distance. Take the Google logo icon which appears in the tab of your web browser/address bar when on the Google homepage, 16 pixels x 16 pixels and it is still recognizable as the Google logo.
Also, a shark for a fishing related business, but a shark for a creative agency? A shark makes me think of an aggressive predator, is this association what you want people to think of when they think of SIX Gill Creative?

I like the shark idea and the idea of them being an aggressive design firm - makes them look eager and like busy people but for me the logo is still missing something - actually it's just the quality of the image, namely the squares. The squares have drop shadows but the text doesn't so it's throwing me off.
Nice concept overall...

Looks like an original idea. Like the color combination!

Agree with the above, drop the drop shadow. The shark is a nice idea, but consider something other than squares. Since it's a creative company, perhaps you could replace them with words, like a brainstorm.
