Google have announced that they will further restrict display URLs within their Google Adwords PPC system.
I picked this up when I read WebProNews: http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2011/01/11/google-changes-display-urls-for-adwords-ads.
The original notification comes from the Inside Adwords Blog: http://adwords.blogspot.com/2011/01/change-to-appearance-of-search-ad.html. The change will take place automatically, although the blog doesn't give a date.
Essentially, Google are restricting the domain component of a display URL to lower case characters. For example www.YourDomain.com becomes www.yourdomain.com. There will be no restriction to lower cases to URL extensions. So www.yourdomain.com/LandingPage will still be allowed. As at this morning I still have client ads running that show domain capitalisation. See attached image.
My own experience is that capitalisation is useful for brand awareness purposes. Google's decision appears to be based purely on click through rate. My own research suggests that domain capitalisation distracts from the keyword bolding that may be shown in the URL extension.
