Hi guys,

I have a client whose web design site is a Word Press site. I am more or less happy with the aesthetic of the site but was kind of shocked when I got back end access to find that the site is using that rather hideous default theme (Word Press 2010 I think its called)... Now my question is: is there anyway I can or rather is there another (better) theme that is a close enough basic fit to the default one so as to not force me to restructure all the content and headings as the first (random) one I chose simply made all of the content go haywire and look very very different. Also, do you think (as is) it is an aesthetically pleasing enough design...

Thanks guys.

I personally use Thesis for pretty much everything wordpress.

My question would be, if you like the look of the site, and had to look in the themes menu to see that it's a TwentyTen child theme, what's the problem? TwentyTen really isn't too bad markup wise. I wouldn't use it because I have a Thesis dev license, but it's not horrible, and it uses some of the new wordpress stuff.

Unless the developer just really screwed it up and coded it in a way that isn't flexible with wordpress updates or for your client, why not leave it?

I agree with Optic. We ended up writing our own default theme to start with for clients.. but if you like it .. why change it? Also, lots of times.. inexperienced wordpress designers and developers won't change the them name and image even though they've totally modified the design.
