If not a drop in overall traffic from Google, what about a change in the keywords that are bringing people to your site? Do you see any change like shorter search terms, less long tail searches, or the like?

Wige, you have been away for a while, so I am unsure of whether you are aware of these three threads in chronological order that may answer your question:

Yes it has affected me; my income decreased significantly when Google made the changes. Now I am trying to learn more about SEO so I can build a real business.

I believe this will have great impact especially on those who were fighting really hard to get to #1 in search results for some specific keyword. It's time we start rethinking our strategies. Let's see how Instant will evolve further. While trying out the "instant" feature, it seems that Google will still record the long-tail I choose and account for it in the Google keyword search tool results even if I don't actually type it out. It may in fact give me an advantage if I see any changes in keywords that others don't, so I'm trying to understand how this is anything but a positive for SEO.

I did not find any change. But if we take it logically there should be some changes in respect to keyword search techniques.

I have not experienced any changes...... The only traffic it may affect are the people who read what they are typing as they type. But almost everyone looks at the keyboard when they type. Think about it..... lol

Most of the time, I find it annoying as the search results changes every letter I add. To me, google instants is just an indicator that our net connection at work is fine because it works only on fast connection.

If you are signed into a google account, personalization is in all results, instant or otherwise.

Instant is simply a display modification, so how would it affect SEO at all?

As far as for my site I never experienced any dips in traffic. I heard webmasters complaining about drop in long term traffic. I am happy with the instant both as a search engine user and as a SEO.

I'm undecided. I do find though - and this more from the movement over the two months in volumes whilst doing keyword research that there is perhaps a slight shift toward being more to the point with search queries, ie. shorter terms, less elaboration. Will be interested to see how this and suggestive queries fuse and change the search engine landscape if substantially or subtly.
