Instant Search is Crashing my Browser

I have a medium tier laptop and Google's instant search crashes IE 8, every time, slows firefox considerably, crashes Firefox sometimes and has even crashed Windows when using IE* twice now. And it's been out for what, one day?

Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of the instant search thing.

Anyone else having this problem?

Its should work on the following Browsers according to them; the following browsers: Chrome v5/6, Firefox v3, Safari v5 for Mac and Internet Explorer v8. google.com/instant/

You can disable the instant search if you like.

I was having issues with it in Firefox. I went into preferences and turned it off - it was driving me crazy anyway.

I haven't had a single problem with it on any browser or on any computer. I did notice "Google Instant" disabled itself once when my kids were watching Netflix in the living room. Google Instant indicated my connection at that time was too slow to operate.

same problem (on satellite internet)
i can use it for about four searches and then it says google instant is now stopped due to bandwidth restriction
it uses one heck of alot more bandwidth because one search is now one search for nearly every letter of my search

Instant search gets on my nerves...WTH...spinning wheels before I even get my key words straight. LOL
I'm not so frantic, I can't wait a fraction of a second for results to appear.

I have had it crash the browser a couple times and had to switch it off, but usually I leave it on.

Instant search is another gadget from the boys at GG. Bing and Yahoo give me excellent results too, just a milisecond later.

Google also has link to disable it, it's done with a link to the right of the search bar where it says "instant is on". Note: it's done with cookies so if you clear your cookies it will be back on.

It was working great for me earlier.. but then it told me my connection speed was too slow ( cable internet ) .. I'm guessing maybe my computer was too slow! Using an OLD dell with IE8. Now I have to click for everything, which I prefer anyway. Gonna take some time to adjust to the new changes.

Yes on some tests I did Google's instant search does cause some intense bandwidth issues as you type. In some cases I could see that it might slow or crash a system. And so far I'm unimpressed as to it's benefit. After only a day playing with it I've turned it off but of course that doesn't last since I clear all cookies at the end of each session. Luckily if you use the Google search bar on your browser it's not being used. So unless Google turns it on there I'll be alright.

Also I'm sure what Google is calling a "new" feature is really what was going on behind the scenes all the time. You can bet that any search engine is looking at everything as you type it to begin limiting the search. Google has just decided to show you these early results that in the past had been only available internally. For the most part I fail to see how this really speeds up a search. Unless you stop to look at what's popping up you are going to go right on typing.

Again Google like all the rest keeps searching for something new when what they have now is good. So while I appreciate their improvements to their search algorithms I'm not enthused with their need to show me what for the most part is useless junk while they start the search process.

YESSS! I thought it was just me! I even called Bright House our internet cable company yesterday and they could not find anything wrong. It is MUCH slower with my Vista and IE8. Even our home page <edit self promo link - please use your signature file>link loads much slower than normal... How can Instant Search be disabled??

I'm not having any issue with speed, either on laptop or work desktop. Using firefox.

Perhaps unsurprisingly I'm also not experiencing any lag when using chrome... :-)

This is wired, no instant search on my "big fat powerful" desktop computer when using IE 7. No message about bandwidth.

shows up when I use Firefox on the big computer....
