I have an account on facebook, but now when I go to log in with my e-mail address and password they want my cell phone number.
I don't have a cell phone, so I can't access my account... This is what it said, "Confirm your idenity by adding a mobile number to your account."
Any suggestions?
Thank You,
Darlene Robinson
I've never noticed this before. Are you sure it's facebook asking for your phone number, and not some kind of phishing attack?

Are you logging in on this screen?

Suggestion: If you have a bookmark to a log in screen, reset it to the one above.

I've never had Facebook ask for a Cell phone. Like others, I'm suspicious that you have clicked a phishing URL.

Yup, sounds like a lot of Phish, but no rock and roll.

We went to Hawaii last month.
Facebook would not let me log in because of new IP.
They asked for a variety of information ... including cell number. It was tough to get in.
If my memory serves me correctly, they were going to send a text with a code to use. Since I don't text, I did not have access. (Though I did have access via mobile wireless)
A puzzle indeed.

I have had them ask for my cell number to try and get me to activate updates through texting but not for security reasons.

After giving the correct password it requires one more time.
That's right! Last week I too faced the same problem. Checked with all the browsers and at my colleague laptop too.
Right now! It is working fine.

Had the same thing happen to me. So I gave them my cell #, verified my acct by text then instantly deleted my number from my profile. Why are they going to all this bother?
