Dmoz aren't accepting submissions from Aug 16th - Aug 19th due to 'behind the scenes improvement'... They did the same thing last month too.
Anybody know what's happening? Will these 'improvements' make it the directory it once was?

The DMOZ team are launching a new version (2.0). They had problems last month.
DMOZ is still the Daddy of all directories and respected by others for that. Unfortunately as such it is also in a constant battle with SEO spam.

I have been trying to get my site accepted into Dmoz for years with no success. I have given up!

It's definitely not worth getting stressed over; you'll probably do just as well without a listing. ;)
