Help please.... has something changed recently with Firefox? I am using the latest version as I have all browsers installed for testing purposes but until now Firefox has been my browser of choice.

I have popups disabled but when I now browse to any site which has products on it a skyscraper shaped popup keeps coming up from the bottom of the screen and offering me similar products from other websites with pictures and prices - does anyone know what this is (it won't let me view the source code of it and it doesnt have a 'provided by' tag line).... its really annoying and I cant see many people putting up with it. It seems to be about 200 pixels wide and comes right up the centre of all pages after about 30 seconds of viewing a page.

It doesn't sound like something to do with Firefox, as much as adware on your machine. Have you performed a deep scan of your machine, lately? What happens with other browsers surfing the same sites?

Maybe you have some secret "helper" installed as an extension, toolbar, etc.? I don't understand what you mean when you say it "won't let me view source". If that's true, try another way to find out where it's coming from. I like the FF extension, view dependencies (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2214/), but I'm sure there are plenty of others to get you the info. Also, view live headers (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3829/).

Better scan your computer for virus, Trojan and so on. Sounds like you have visitor in your computer.

It's possible this is a pseudo pop-up generated in DHTML which can't be blocked by the pop-up blockers in Firefox or other browsers. You can see an example of this technique here: http://www.promoproductsshowcase.com/.

This doesn't answer the question of why you're seeing this on product sites. In case it's generated by a Firefox plug-in, I'd temporarily disable all plug-ins (Tools > Add-ons) and see if the issue goes away. If not, I'd concur with the earlier posts suggesting a malware infection of some kind.
