May I suggest you search the forum for previous threads on basic topics?
This has been covered and covered ...
From: http://www.webproworld.com/webmaster-forum/threads/101169-Heading-Tags:
Heading tags were created to control the size of headings on web pages, with the h1 tag being the largest and the h6, the smallest. (See: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_headers for a graphic illustration.)
Because it is logical that your main headings will contain text that is highly relevant to the content of the page, most search engines consider at least the h1 tag to be a ranking factor. With the advent of CSS and other ways to control the size and style of your heading, the tag is rarely used to control the look of the heading, but webmasters still use it to tell search engines what the page is about. (see: item #4 on http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors#ranking-factors for an idea of what SEOs think of the importance of h1 tags as a ranking factor)
I think of heading tags as similar to the organizational outline of a theme paper applied to web page content.

If the WPW search doesn't turn up what's needed, I find it's very effective to use the site: operator to find what I need. To wit:

Also, do not post the same question over multiple forums. It's considered rude.

And it's against our rules. Why? Because people tend to do that to get their posts count up or for links. I am closing this thread.
