Well I have used Blogger in the past for blogging and have built up my sites, however all the pages are in .ASP and exist on a Windows server...

I can't use Blogger anymore because they dont allow FTP publishing anymore and I would rather not have my pages reside on Google's server

But Wordpress works best with PHP/Linux environment. If I move my site to a different host with PHP, I will have to change all the filenames to a .php extension and will lose all SEO benefits. This is my problem.

I dont have to be on a Windows server, but I will have to change all the filename extensions to PHP and risk losing all the inbound links... Any ideas??

I'm not a techie wizard, but I think you can look into changing your .htaccess file to process .asp file extensions with the PHP engine. (Of course the code inside the pages would have to change).

Blogger is causing many horrendous problems. It's almost as if Google resented the fact it bought Blogger and is trying to kill it off...

I had a similar situation. I have an E-commerce site using Able Commerce, which is ASP.NET. I couldn't install Wordpress on my site, at least not very easily, and I was recomended against trying it. So I found BlogEngine.NET
So I set it up in a subfolder on my website and it works with no problem.

There is a good Wordpress plugin called Redirection which you can add all of your url redirects to. It will also log and monitor your 404 errors so that you can add those as redirects as well. Good luck.

It is not possible to change it from ASP to PHP as both are completely different. But this is what i strongly believe. So take other opinions also and that might help my knowledge too.
