Hi all,
First time posting. Been receiving the newsletter for a while. Glad to be here.
I've been having an issue with a site, it's a wordpress site. It is loading slow, the problem occurs mostly when it comes to the right sidebar. It really hangs up at that point in the browsers I check it with. The web host says everything checks out with the server and the site is loading fast.. Would someone mind checking the site to see if they encounter difficulty with speed or loading issues? I am not sure where the problem originates. Much appreciated.

I checked your site, it loaded just fine but maybe you can try installing Word press Super cache, it speeds up a website loading time.

The webpage is loading too slow.
You need to concentrate on that issue first.
I'm unable to see any right sidebar.

May I suggest you try running your site through this tool: http://www.webpagetest.org/test. You will get some accurate feedback.

@mjtaylor, thanks for the tool. I never knew such tools really exist. I tried my site on the tool, load time first view 26.046s, is it slow or first?

What should be in the right column as it never loads here, I've waited about 10 minutes so far and it's still contemplating loading.
Is it loading content from a remote site? If so is there a problem with that site?
Do you use PHP include directives to load content from URLs?

The right sidebar took a couple of minutes to load and I am using a broadband (cable) internet connection.
Perhaps that video is not optimized and is slowing down the load time...
Maybe the video is causing the side bar to load slowly, or the banner from commission junction. I have had that problem a couple of times with banners from cj. I suggest you remove the cj banner and see what happens.

Disable all plugins and see if it loads faster. If it does it is probably a plugin issue. Then enable each plugin one by one until you find out which plugin is causing the problem. You can try the same with the widgets. If that doesn't work try a different theme. I actually use this theme and I know it is fine but if you didn't get it from Brian Gardener's site someone may have slipped some malicious code in there.

Check if you are loading some external scripts on the right sidebar and also you should try W3 Total Cache plugin.

How about starting your own thread ... we don't want to hijack the OPs thread. :D

Y'all are tremendous. Thanks for the help. One plugin turned out to be the culprit, at least for the moment. After deactivating, the site is loading fine.

Thought I would return to this topic and relate what seems to be a byproduct of the problems I had with the site loading slowly, which I discussed in the beginning. It appears Google does not like sites that are slow. I had had a few pages ranked here and there, now everything seems to have dropped. Last week, I eliminated a reciprocal linking exchange just in case Google found it objectionable. I don't think it was helping to any degree, we will see though. I think the moral of the story is if your site speed is slow, correct the issue as soon as possible, otherwise search engines may take a dim view of your site.

Have you tried this?
