Ok, this will probably seem incredibly naive. But here goes.
I have, with the always helpful information on this site, installed Facebook "Like" buttons on my website pages and blogs, which seem to be directing traffic back to my Facebook profile successfully.
What I would really like to do is install a "Like" option on my Facebook profile, which will increase traffic to the website!
About 4 or 5 years ago, following a suggestion here by Janeth, I plunged into the "Social Web". Actually it hadn't even garnered that title at the time, she just decided to have a shot at MySpace, which was the place to be at that time, and, having much respect for her eye for the cutting edge, decided to follow suit. I followed the 'no hard sell' protocal - even though my website has only free content - and built a substantial friend base.
Even before it became obvious that Facebook was going to take over the #1 social space position, I had established a presence there, and built up a reasonable 'friend' circle.
Over the past months, I've received firstly requests to 'become a fan of' various sites, commercial and otherwise, and was beginning to wonder how I could adapt my 'personal' profile to do this. The 'fan' option has now become a 'like' option ( which I think was a smart psychological move ), but I cannot for the life of me find any information as to how I can convert my profile, which is almost totally dedicated to promoting my website, to a profile where people can click on a 'Like' button.
I can't find any information on FB that informs me whether I can do this with my current profile, or need to set up a seperate semi-commercial page.
If anyone here can help, I would be most grateful.
PJ
