I'm not sure if I've got the right forum for this but I'm at my wits end...

I have a client who wants me to re-do their web site... ony problem is if I try view the site I get "cannot find DNS server" type messages and FTP almost connects... but doesn't.

It seems that the site works OK for some but at least one other (a tech support from the clients hosting company no ess) is having the same problem.

I have been through every conceivable issue that could be causing the problem from my end with my ISP and we aren't getting anywhere...

The site is www.salitage.com.au . If folks could take a minute and post a note to say if they can access the site or not at least I would know for sure if it is just me of if this problem is as I suspect coming from the web hosts side.

Thanks
Tania

Hi Tania,

I connected fine to the site.

Last year when I moved to Cable Broadband I couldn't connect to Matauri's site from 1 pc on my network but could from the other. If you have a network set-up at home try playing with some browser and or firewall settings just to see if its a local problem.

Regards

Julian

Likewise, I had no problem connecting Tania. I'm having all sorts of issues with DNS and IIS at the moment myself... but no difficulty finding the URL you posted! :o)

Thanks guys...

I went through a whole pile of possibilities with my ISP earlier today all to no avail, but after Julian suggested it still may be the ADSL connection I decided to try uninstall and reinstall the ADSL modem & connection etc.

That didn't work so I got brutal and uninstalled the ADSL modem, firewall, network and various protocals...

Finally four hours later I have seen the light, I mean site!

Woohoo!

I didn't mind that the problem was on my end but I am a bit disappointed my ISP couldn't even point me in the right direction to the cause...!

Thanks again... Off to bed now.

Tania

DNSReport is your friend ....

http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=salitage.com.au

Note that it states that there are no ns records for the domain. This could be a false positive but make sure ns records are listed for the site.

Also use www.dnsstuff.com to track DNS issue.
