I found a neat article regarding mobile SEO (http://searchengineland.com/the-new-mobile-seo-what-you-need-to-know-40101) and what you need to know at SearchEngineLand.com and it's a bit steep but even for an SEO who's starting out or needs to create a mobile website for one of their clients, the information is good - at the very least as a starter.
Not a bad read...and all for your browsing and mobile SEO entertainment...

No problem guys (and the girls when they visit) but I've yet to find a true blue mobile emulator to test with. I have found the Opera Mini Simulator (http://www.opera.com/mobile/demo/) but I'm not sure it displays the same as most mobile devices would or even the IPhone.
It looks like one has to test with several devices in order to find a happy balance with your layout.
Does anyone know of any truly superb mobile device emulators for testing purposes?

xSitepro has has a feature mobile site wizard where the original site is duplicated into a mobile site and gives a preview before uploading. The list includes blackberry and several others though iphone is not on the list.

Might be worth a peek. This program is great.

Interesting and thank you for the suggestion Michael. I just installed the Mippin plugin for wordpress and testing at that link I just posted above and it worked excellent - I'm talking about the mobile emulator link. I then asked a friend to test the site on their IPhone and it displayed exactly as it was rendering at the Opera Mini Simulator.
Apparently there is also a Microsoft Mobile Explorer Emulator (http://devhood.com/tools/tool_details.aspx?tool_id=52) one could download and install. If after more testing I find there aren't enough consistencies I may have to resort to that.

That opera simulator looks like a great tool. I tried it on several sites I designed and notice that horizontal drop down menus are not showing the sub menus (run by javasript) and looks like emails encased in javascript to prevent spam don't work and my twitter widget doesn't show up either (javascript).
Thanks for the article, Morestar. I have passed it on to my students!

Not a problem everyone and I'm glad you found it useful as I did. It's time for us to get on the mobile band-wagon if we haven't yet!

Nicely and thankfully after tons of searching I did find this Nokia mobile site template (http://www.forum.nokia.com/Technology_Topics/Web_Technologies/Browsing/Web_Templates/Templates_for_High-End_Devices/) page of which from there one can download their nicely working mobile template and customize it to your need and likings.
It works with most mobile devices as well, namely the iPhone, Android G1, HTC Magic, Samsung Omnia, and Palm Pre.
