Default Can I be blocked from visiting a web site?

I am a contributing writer and forum moderator to a fishing web site. There is a competing site that I would like to vist, but I can't get on it. Is it possible that I could be blocked from this site by either of the two site owners?

I don't have any problem visiting other sites.

If you have a static ip address and they know what it is they can block you.

You can try to connect from a computer with a different ip address. If you can get there from another computer then you are probably being blocked. If you wanted to test even further you could try to connect to the site with another computer on your network that uses the same ip and see if that computer can get through. This should help you determine if you are being blocked.

If you are being blocked and you dont need a static ip address you can ask your isp to change it. I dont know if they will do it for you but it couldnt hurt to ask.

Default internet connection

First if you dialup to connect to the internet then you do not have a static IP.

Second another test you can do is delete all of your history, temp. internet files and cookies while your browser is closed. Then reopen the browser and try to visit the website.

When you say you are being blocked. What do you mean exactly? When you visit the website what happens?

Default Thanks imvain

I have broadband connection. I have tried clearing out all of my history, cookies etc... several times. I have also changed my browser settings several times in an attempt to find my problem. No matter how many times I try this, I always get the message that "the site can't be found".
I've asked several other people to log on to this site to be sure it's running and no one else has had a problem getting on it.
Here's a new way to ask the question; What other problems could I be experiencing that I need to look into to solve my trouble?

Try going to the site by its IP address. If you can get there by it's IP (you might get some other website, but as long as you get something) then you are probably having a DNS problem. And it might actually be your DNS server that is blocked or otherwise having a problem querying the site's DNS records. Try changing your DNS settings if so.

But it sounds like you are being blocked. Happens all the time. Try using a proxy.
