Default Creating a Site Offering what Wordpress does.

Hello all and thank you for your time.

I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of how to create my own site similar to what wordpress offers, that being, the ability to signup and have theirdomain.mydomain.com and have blogging capabilities as well.

I know there would be two parts, one being the creation of the sub-domain - I'm having trouble finding this type of solution...

secondly, once the subdomain has been created, it comes with wordpress ready and installed...

anyones help or input is appreciated.

Thanks !

This is the software that wordpress.com works from. Set it up on your domain.com and people cna register joe.domain.com and have their own wordpress blog on YOUR domain.

Customize as you like..

This is really quite easy... Download and install WordPress MU (multi-user).

You can create unlimited blogs off of your domain, sub-domains, CNAME'd (user domains), etc.

OK gentlemen and future ladies who visit this thread...the blog-site is up and running...so I have to thank you again...

the only snag I ran through was having to add an extra record to my DNS entries...I had to add a wild-card entry. Once that was done, sub-domains where able to be created through the software...

I'll be updating my signature later once I do some keyword research to see what the best words related to blogs are etc.

Thanks again !!!

Ah ha! Problem: I would like to change the current theme for the new blogs created, the basic theme (they should then be able to select from other themes once I get them installed but...).

When I make changes to the primary domain template it affects the sub-domain template...not good. I'd like to make a very simple and clean primary domain template for users to sign up with but give the template they start with the default one.

Any ideas gentlemen and future ladies?
