using spider sim www. not returning page info

When I type in either www. mywebsite(not real name) .com or mywebsite .com in my browser window both addresses will load with no problem. When I use a Google spider simulator the www address will return very little information but if I leave out the www the spider simulator will return the full page information.

I have searched the internet and from my very limited knowledge of SEO it looks like I may need to do a 301 redirect. If a 301 redirect is the answer would I redirect mywebsite .com to www. mywebsite .com or vice versa?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Yes you will have to put 301 redirect and better will be to redirect mywebsite.com to www.mywebsite.com.

The problem is google is taking both of them as different URLs and for it to know that it’s the same rather the one with www is to be given the weight age.
