Interesting one this. I have just finished optimising a site for a client with Flash Movie which included using the SWFObject method.
I have never had any problems with this in past, but this time, client found that text element was showing before the Movie was loaded on his machine. Now I cannot replicate this on any of my computers (Vista, XP). I have moved the Javascript that runs the movie into the flashcontent div before the text to see if that makes a difference. One of my web designer colleagues has checked the site and he cannot see this anomaly Has anyone come across this before and if so what was solution? Cheers Ian

Hi Ian,
Sometimes that will happen and may depend on the file size of your SWF file. Normally it is a quick flicker before the Flash loads. In any case the alternative is to skip the SWFObject and surround your Flash file with text and links in the HTML to help with SEO. Additionally, I believe Flash 8 and later versions allow you to add XMP Meta data, which might add some potential lift. Hope this helps. |

Seems a reasonable explanation. This is a large movie with sound files too.
The changes that I made appear to have made the difference. Http://www.atomicfloyd.com As it happens a new e-commerce site will be launched on 8th December so I guess it is all moot now in any case. Thanks for thoughts.

Try using a ultra small flash file to then load in the larger flash file
