Default Form Question

Please look at my form here:

Travel Belize - Xanadu Island Resort, Ambergris Caye and advise what the best way to impliment and "number of nights" field below the departure date field. If possible would like to automate that based on what the user inputs for arrival and departure dates. And so that is displays automatically after they enter both.

any advice/help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Or do you want to let the user enter any two of the fields: arrival, departure and number of nights and then calculate the third on the fly and display it? The calculation is simple enough.

Why not replace the date dropdown fields with a calendar so the user can easily see where the weekends are? This makes it much easier for them to select one week or two weeks directly rather than having to select from six dropdowns. There are plenty of calendar widgets available that you can call from PHP.

Most travel sites make the default numbers 2 adults and 0 children. Your country dropdown is a little sparse!

Dave, thanks for the feedback... where can I get these php widgets you talk about?

Yes a 2 out of 3 approach would be great. How would all that be achieved and displayed on the fly?

Regarding SWD website... unfortunately it has been dormant for years... fortunately it has never impacted my amount of work... But thanks for the interest.

Look forward to your advise on the widgets and other stuff.

Thanks

Rob

Just do a search for "PHP Calendar widgets" or a similar phrase and pick one.

Hmm. I may have had some work for you, but your website put me off. So maybe it has impacted your amount of work but you just don't know it.

Thanks...

by impacted my amount of work, I mean I have been steadily busy for years... often busier than I would like, so if I have lost some due to that... what can ya do... company is under restructuring so hopefully in the next few months it will be forced to be revamped. But thanks for your concern either way...

and of course for the feedback and help.

I've been using these guys for various widgets and they have a calendar too: dhtmlxCalendar - DHTML JavaScript Calendar component

Whilst their documentation is a little sketchy, the quality of the code is high and their response to support e-mails is pretty quick.

Dave, I checked DHX and the script was pretty good... however I had already tried and implemented the one found here:
JACS Demonstration Header

You can see it in action on my test contact form here:
Travel Belize - Xanadu Island Resort, Ambergris Caye

Now this calendar has a built in function to handle something on the close of the calendar... that would the place to presumably put the number of nights dynamic calculation...

Unfortunately I know so very little about JS that I wouldn't know how to program that.

Any ideas?

thanks again.
