PHP is my favorite too. I like it because it is so widely adopted that I can always find help too if I need it. There are many applications built using it too. I just started working on a project using Joomla!, which is yet another PHP CMS package.

ASP is junk, I'm strictly php. It's not so much that one is easier than the other, but more that php is more secure and can run on any type of server while ASP is pretty much Microsoft IIS only and thats a hack waiting to happen. Java and Perl aren't bad, and there's some things you can do with those that php might not have permission to do(php's system command for example).

Please do enlighten us as to how an IIS system is less secure than a *nix system. Do your homework, there are more vulnerablities discovered daily on nix systems for the simple reason that the code is open source whereas iis is proprietry software.

I love this bit.

Aren't bad? as opposed to what? permissions? all that shows is your own total lack of understanding in to how a *nix filesystem is formed and who has permission to do what. Nothing whatsoever to do with a programming language be it php, perl, bash, all about how a *nix system determines who and who cannot read or write to a file.

Your whole post shows that you have no understanding whatsoever of the technologies that you belittle with a few words such as "ASP is junk" such a statement does nothing but belittle the thousands of hours developers put into developing said languages.

I would like to know why you prefer php over asp, what does php as a language provide you the programmer with that asp does not?

I won't hold my breath waiting on a response.
