Default Best use of widgets

We have a number of widgets under development - bits of code, which produce useful, changing content, on some of our sites.

We wondered about allowing others to use them on their own sites, to enhance their sites, and increase incoming links to our sites. I want to create a couple of lines of code, so that other webmasters can paste the lines in, and access the code on our page.

But I can't decide how to structure this. If we just have an incoming link to the widget, then it appears that the link juice won't get spread around the rest of our site.

Someone suggested an iframe, with the link to the rest of our site outside the window, and so not immediately visible on the other webmasters site. But that just feels wrong somehow.

Any suggestions?

So are you building this for IBL help or to promote a solid widget?

They are bits of code that we will be using on our site, which is the main purpose.

We were considering sharing the use of them, for IBL advantage. We haven't gone in to it too deeply, but would appreciate any thoughts.

I notice that there haven't been any replies, although I have seen others ask similar questions, and not receive any replies either!

When we create a tool, which will be useful to others in the same niche, what's the best way to allow others to use it, that will generate IBL?

First thoughts are that it would be called via Javascript, but that's not going to help with search engine robots.

Come back, IFrames, (almost) all is forgiven...
