Silverlight a new platform from Microsoft

Has anybody noted this?

As far as I understand Silverlight is a competitor to Flash.

I looked at the write ups and the available demos and all I can say is that unless I'm missing something significant then I think Microsoft have a long way to go yet. I didn't see anything that Flash couldn't do at least as well or better.
