Ip address location

Is it possible in php to determine the location (i.e. country) of a user from the ip address or any other method ?

Try these guys - we use them to do just what you want - there are tools available, and if you write your own, they have a downloadable database. We use it to block entire CIDR blocks from some Email servers that have no reason to receive Email from certain parts of the world.
