Default memcached

Anyone have experience with memcached? I'm trying to get it working on our dev box to see what type of a difference it might make, but so far nothing.

I guess I'm sort of at a loss where to go once it's installed. The documentation appears to be non-existent.

Anyone got the scoop?

Brian.

I've been there... but that's not documentation. That's less than adequate at best. It says how to start things, but the API's (which would be really helpful to actually utilize it) don't say where to go from there.

Maybe I'm just suffering from the Mondays.

You don't say which language you are using, for PHP have a look at http://uk2.php.net/memcache

The API documentation I have is here.

I've used a ton of modules in the past, but this one isn't making much sense at the moment. I think I've just got a case of the Mondays. Tomorrow it should be better.

I have no experience with memcache, but have you
  1. Looked for documentation on the site or in the downloaded files / documents?
  2. Is there a related forum?

Once you have memcache installed, you have only to enable it.

Are you using PHP?
If so, simply enable memcache in your php.ini file.

I don’t have the documentation for that at the moment, but doing a search on google for "memcache php.ini" should yield you some results for configuring memcache in your PHP config file.

If you click the link in Brian's last post, it seems like he is using Perl.

Thumbs up Re: memcached

I was right about it being a case of the Mondays. By Tuesday, I had it up and running on all 3 web servers. Wow... that's all I can say... wow.
