Default MS SharePoint Services

I am using MS SharePoint Services, MS SharePoint Portal Server, WebParts, MS Office 2003, etc for all new development. I can't see an appropriate discussion group on WebProWorld. Is there one? If so, would someone please be so kind as to advise which one. Thanks.

Default Purpose behind the technology

Hi kimellis,

I think you've probably chosen the best starting place here in Content Management Systems. We don't have a dedicated area for groupware or team-oriented sites at WebProWorld.. maybe we should! - it's certainly an important area of web development and often overlooked.

What is the main aim / purpose of your current project? Are you interested in knowledge management, information sharing or other related fields? We'd be interested to hear what good use you put all this advanced technology to!

Paul

I have done several portal sites for small businesses, an art gallery, and an investment bank. I tried DotNetNuke at one stage, fearing the enormity of SharePoint Services, but DNN just isn't up to a production level system. I am actually glad now that I went down the SharePoint Services route, despite the enormous learning curve, because it paid off so well. The Microsoft discussion groups are very useful, but they lack the day-to-day production issues and solutions you often get on sites like WebProWorld. If there isn't much interest here yet, I guess I will need to keep looking at other sites. I am particularly interested in communicating with people who have done a fully automated e-commerce system (PaylPal and e-gold primarily) in SharePoint Services. Although it was all to easy in the good old ASP days, I have not been able to locate suitable WebParts for same to date.

Default Sounds good to me

I can't speak for everyone else but I would love to see a forum covering this topic.
