We are currently using a css driven menu for the main navigation on our site and we seem to have a small issue. Now I am not sure if the issue is with our menu or with our customer on the other end but here is what happens. And by the way this is very rare but it does come up once in a while. A visitor will come to the site attempt to navigate to another page and the menu at the top of the page will not work. As I said this is a css menu and it is placed in an include file that displays on most of our pages. Could this be a browser issue? We have tried to duplicate this on several different computers using several different browsers in our office and it always works for use. I just want to make sure that we are not overlooking something simple. A certainly don't want to lose a visitor because of the navigation menu. Any comments are appreciated.

I would suggest to get rid of the second level within the navigation, at the very least. You may want to consider adding bread crumbs as an option and a sitemap. While browsing through the site, it also seems that the nav is delayed in its load time - a period of time that someone may actually think that it's no longer working.

Don't you just hate it when that happens? 99.9% of the population sees and interacts with your site the way they're supposed to. Then there's that 1% that you just can't get a finger on.
Anyway, it looked fine to me - but I'm guessing that there's some JavaScript involved to tell the CSS when to become visible. This is common with CSS navigation. However, there are a few lost soles who still believe that they have to disable JavaScript in their browser for security reasons. I can't say that's the problem with 100% certainty, but it most likely is. (There's also a good chance that the person who is viewing the site has no clue that JavaScript was turned off - it could have been done by someone else in the family.) |
